HOW IT INSTALLS

PC → home network → monitor

Samsung’s official Developer Mode. No USB stick, rooting, or firmware changes.

ONE-TIME SETUP

Samsung certificate required

Samsung requires a certificate for your specific monitor. The guide handles this before installation.

LET’S GET IT ON YOUR MONITOR

A little setup.
Then just press play.

Start on your Windows PC. Keep this page open on your phone while following the monitor steps.

What’s ready: the app, Windows helper, and these instructions. Physical installation and Samsung-native playback still need to be verified on your monitor.

01

Download and unpack FilmDeck

  1. Click Download for Windows setup above. Save the ZIP to your Downloads folder.
  2. In File Explorer, right-click the ZIP and choose Properties. If you see an Unblock checkbox near the bottom, check it and click Apply. This removes the downloaded-file mark from this copy only.
  3. Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All, then Extract. Open the extracted folder, not the ZIP preview.
  4. You’ll see Start-Setup.cmd, Setup-FilmDeck.ps1, an App folder, and an offline guide. Keep them together.
  5. Double-click Start-Setup.cmd. A FilmDeck setup window opens. Leave it open while completing the next steps.

The helper is readable PowerShell, not a signed Windows installer. It uses RemoteSigned for its own process only. If your computer blocks scripts, use the manual installation route below instead of changing system-wide security settings.

02

Put the PC and monitor on the same network

  1. On the monitor, open its Smart Hub / Home screen using the monitor remote. Switch away from the PC’s HDMI or DisplayPort picture if necessary.
  2. Open Settings → All Settings → Connection → Network → Network Status → IP Settings. On some firmware, Network is under General instead of Connection.
  3. Write down the monitor’s IP address, for example 192.168.1.50. Use its home-network address, not a public internet address.
  4. Enter that address in the FilmDeck setup window. The helper displays the PC address it would use to reach the monitor. You’ll enter that PC address into Developer Mode next.
  5. Both devices must use the same home router. Wired Ethernet on the PC and Wi-Fi on the monitor is fine. Avoid guest Wi-Fi, client isolation, and a VPN connection during setup.
03

Enable Samsung’s Developer Mode

  1. On the monitor’s Home screen, open Apps.
  2. Open Apps Settings if it is listed within Apps, then enter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 with the remote’s number buttons. If the remote has a 123 button instead, use its onscreen number pad. This should open the Developer Mode dialog.
  3. Set Developer Mode to On. In Host PC IP, enter the PC address shown by the helper, not the monitor’s address.
  4. Confirm and restart the monitor as requested. If a normal power-button press only puts it in standby, turn it off, unplug power briefly, then reconnect it.
  5. Return to Apps and verify Developer Mode remains enabled.

Use the normal Apps screen, not the service menu. If 12345 does nothing, check Apps Settings within Samsung Apps. Older firmware may accept the sequence directly on the Apps panel. Do not use a PC window or the app search box. See Samsung’s TV device setup.

04

Install Samsung’s tools on the PC

  1. Download the Windows 64-bit Tizen Studio 6.1 installer (about 660 MB) from the official Tizen download server. Keep the default folder, C:\tizen-studio, unless you have a reason to change it.
  2. Open Tizen Studio Package Manager. Install the web app tools and, under Extension SDK, the Samsung TV Extension and Samsung Certificate Extension. Package labels vary by SDK release. These are Samsung’s development tools, not a monitor firmware update.
  3. The current Samsung TV Extension page has the supported packages and installation references. You do not need to run a TV emulator for this installation.
  4. Return to FilmDeck setup. Confirm the Tizen Studio folder is correct, then click Check connection. Allow Samsung’s SDB tool on your private home network if Windows Firewall asks.
  5. Open Samsung’s Device Manager, add a remote device using the monitor IP and port 26101, and connect it. Keep the monitor powered on.

An already-installed SDK is fine if it includes tools\sdb.exe, tools\ide\bin\tizen.bat, the Samsung TV Extension, and the certificate tools. No Node.js or Python installation is needed on your PC.

05

Create a certificate for your monitor

  1. In Tizen Studio, open Tools → Certificate Manager and choose the plus button to create a profile.
  2. Choose Samsung, then TV. Name the certificate profile FilmDeck so it matches the helper.
  3. Create a new author certificate. Use your own name and a password you’ll keep securely. Sign into your own Samsung account when Samsung’s tool asks.
  4. Create the distributor certificate and add the connected monitor’s DUID. The wizard can list connected devices; select this G65B. If it does not appear, return to Device Manager and reconnect the monitor.
  5. Finish the wizard and make the FilmDeck certificate profile active. In Device Manager, if the monitor’s context menu offers Permit to install applications, select it.

Keep the author certificate for future updates. Never upload its private key or password here. The distributor certificate must include this monitor’s DUID; a generic Tizen certificate or someone else’s device certificate will not work. Samsung’s certificate guide

06

Install, open, and check playback

  1. In FilmDeck setup, verify the monitor IP, SDK folder, and certificate profile name FilmDeck.
  2. Click Install FilmDeck. The helper checks the app files, asks Samsung’s tool to sign the app, installs it over the network, and sends the launch command.
  3. Look at the monitor. FilmDeck should open on Home. If it doesn’t, check Apps for FilmDeck and launch it there. If offered, add it to Home for easy access.
  4. Open a film and play it briefly. Check the picture, audio, pause, seeking, and Back. Then try a series episode. Samsung-native playback has to be confirmed on the actual monitor; a browser preview alone cannot prove it.
  5. After installation succeeds, close the setup helper. The PC does not need to stay on for FilmDeck to run. The monitor still needs internet access.

The helper displays Samsung’s actual command result and bounded diagnostics. “Launch accepted” means the SDK accepted the command; the monitor’s picture is the final check.

AFTER SETUP

Make yourself at home.

Browse with the remote

Use arrows to move, OK to select, and Back to return. Series show their season selector and episode list beneath the title.

Pick up where you stopped

Continue watching, saved titles, and episode progress live on this monitor. Clearing app data or uninstalling can remove them.

Control playback

Left/right seeks ten seconds. OK pauses or resumes. Up opens audio and caption options. Back closes the player. Available tracks depend on the source.

Manual install, if you prefer Samsung’s tools
  1. Complete the network, Developer Mode, and Samsung certificate steps above.
  2. In Tizen Studio, create a new TV Web Application using the Basic template and name it FilmDeck. Open that project's folder in File Explorer, copy the contents of the downloaded App folder into it, and replace the sample files. Keep the project files created by Tizen Studio. Refresh the project in the IDE. The entry point is index.html and the app ID in config.xml is FilmDeckTV.FilmDeck.
  3. Select the connected monitor as the target and the FilmDeck Samsung certificate profile, then build/package and run the Tizen Web Application.

Or use Samsung’s CLI from a terminal, substituting your monitor IP and extracted App folder:

"C:\tizen-studio\tools\sdb.exe" connect MONITOR_IP:26101
"C:\tizen-studio\tools\ide\bin\tizen.bat" package -t wgt -s FilmDeck -- "PATH_TO_APP"
"C:\tizen-studio\tools\ide\bin\tizen.bat" install -s MONITOR_IP:26101 --name FilmDeck.wgt -- "PATH_TO_APP"
"C:\tizen-studio\tools\ide\bin\tizen.bat" run -s MONITOR_IP:26101 -p FilmDeckTV.FilmDeck

These examples use Command Prompt syntax. PowerShell users must put & before a quoted executable path. Samsung CLI reference

What’s in the download? Is it signed?

The ZIP contains the app source, bundled catalog and fonts, a readable Windows setup helper, file hashes, an offline guide, and an unsigned .wgt package. It contains no accounts, private certificates, API keys, or remote-control service.

The downloaded .wgt is deliberately unsigned. Samsung requires signing with a certificate that includes your monitor. The helper creates that signed package locally through Samsung’s CLI after you finish the certificate wizard.

Updates, certificates, and removing the app

Download a new FilmDeck ZIP and install it using the same author certificate and app ID. Back up that certificate through Samsung’s tools and keep its password private. A different author certificate can prevent an update from replacing the existing app.

Developer certificates can expire, monitor resets can remove developer settings, and firmware or network changes may require setup again. If the app refuses to install, check the certificate dates and DUID rather than disabling security.

To remove FilmDeck, use the monitor’s Apps management screen and delete the app. This may delete its saved viewing data. The Windows helper does not uninstall the SDK or change firewall settings.

Can I watch on the PC while I set this up?

Yes. Open FilmDeck on the PC. You can also use the monitor’s Samsung Internet browser if compatible. This is separate from installing the native monitor app, and each browser keeps its own viewing data.
